As Founding members of Healing Hearts Ministry, Nick and his wife Vivian came out of the communities they now reach into as missionaries. Kneeling together in their bedroom the evening of January 28th, 1994, Nick and Vivian prayed a simple prayer: "God, Change me. I cannot change myself, so I am asking you to change me. Because if you don't, I'm going to die." Both Vivian and I (Nick) felt God pour His spirit into us simultaneously. God ignited a desire to tell everyone we knew what had happened to us. For Nick, of course this meant reaching into the lives of First Nations men of North Central Regina. Since being ordained in 2005, Nick's ministry to the men of North Central has expanded to become very diverse. Jesus Christ began his church by mentoring 12 men in their faith, and leaving them with the command to 'go and make disciples'. "I believe that leading men to faith in the context of strong mentoring relationships with other mature Christian men is a keystone of my ministry." In the inner city, the gangs are providing mentoring to the young men while the church is ministering primarily to women and children. It has been said that when you lead a child to faith in Jesus Christ, you change a life; when you lead a woman to faith in Jesus Christ, you change a family, but when you lead a man to faith in Jesus Christ, you change a community. This cannot mean that outreach to women and children should be abandoned. Just that outreach and ministry to men should not be abandoned." Today, Nick's ministry efforts as Men's Pastor in North Central employs many approaches to leading men into mentorship roles with older, more mature Christians. These efforts include music ministry, bible studies, prison ministry, hospital outreach, breakfasts, men's camps as well as speaking to Churches about men's ministry. "In all of my efforts, I seek to help men develop discipling relationships with other men." The Old Testament closes with the verse: "And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.” "I believe the next move of God will be through the revelation of the Father heart of God as He turns the hearts of the Fathers back to their children."
